American born, McCall lived in Seattle before marrying and moving to N.Ireland. She has always been an enthusiastic lover of arts and crafts, and from age 16 McCall dreamed of being a potter, and making a living in the arts. It was after moving to Downhill that this cherished hobby took a more prominant role in her life.

McCall trained under Brian McGee at Craftworks Pottery Skills School in the City of Derry, and has also trained in Fine and Applied Arts. Apart from ceramics she enjoys incorporating papermaking, photography, and calligraphy into her handmade books, scrolls, and boxes.

McCall is passionate about clay. She sees it as a therapeutic medium for exploring, interpreting, and responding to our environments. She loves to share her enthusiasm for the processes and results of ceramic work.

McCall is a member of the Coleraine Craft Cluster, Women in Enterprise, and the NW Woodfire Association. She and her husband William own the Downhill Hostel, where they live and work with their cat Atticus, welcoming guests from around the globe.
